Gauges/Radio Screwy
Gauges/Radio Screwy
Hi everyone -
Background - stereo got ripped off, negative terminal yanked off battery to kill alarm, I had to painfully thread it back in. Battery checks out fine now on tests, alternator recently replaced. New stereo would just shut off for a few seconds every now and then. Took it back to circuit city, they replaced with a brand new one. Same thing happening, and I notice when it happens, my batter/temperature/tach gauges will go all screwy and swing along wildly like there's some weird voltage current thing happening. Also, my battery used to show 14 volts always on my gauge , now it goes between 9 when idling to 13 when driving. Pep boys did a test and said the gauge is off, it's reading 14.
Any tips?
Thanks

hey my sisters iroc used to have some similar problems, all of the sudden it'd be fine but then you'd be driving and everything would stop working except the spedometer and the left turn signal would always come on, i'm not sure but we rebuilt the whole assembly with parts from another one, we think it was the circuitry in the assembly but it all works fine now so just thought i'd run that by you maybe if you have another set of guages try that, we've got a bunch of parts cars so it wasn't hard for us so if you got it try it, good luck
