Stop lights
When I fitted the Taillights on my 82 Firebird after getting the body re sprayed I couldn't get the stop lights to work. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't the turn signals and the stop lamps on the same bulb on the early Cars. The turn signals work fine. I have checked the switches that make contact with the brake peddle and they work fine. I presume that there is a relay somewhere that switches between stop and turn signals but I don't know where that is. With the engine switched off and if the brake peddle is pushed should the stop lamps light?
Any help appreciated

it could be a dual fillament bulb, and one of the filament blew, thats what it sounds like to me, it happens everyday at my body shop...check the bulb, put new ones in and it should work....

No it's not the bulbs as I replaced all of them. I am wondering on the early Firebirds do the turn signal/hazards and the stop lights use the same Filament on the bulb.

Yes, they do.
The brake lights will also work with the car off (powered all the time).
It's feasible to have a bad brake light switch (mounted on the brake pedal bracket under the dash. You can test the switch with a voltmeter, if it's not passing power when the brake is pushed, it's bad. If there is just no power on either wire at the switch, check for a blown fuse.

Does anyone where where I can get a wiring diagram for the Turn Signals/Stop Lights. The diagram in the technical section doesn't fully show everything. Is there a relay or something that switches between turn and stop as they appear to use the same filament on the bulb.
Thanks.
Thanks.

First check the fuse box...the fuse is marked STOP/HAZ.
