battery keeps dying
battery keeps dying
I have an 86' iroc that is being completely rebuilt. After the new engine was put in the car ran great but it won't hold a charge for very long. What I have noticed is the amp meter drop whenever any electrical devices are used. For example, pushing the power window buttons to close windows, when windows are up the meter drops to 10 amps and when the turn signals are on you can see the meter flicker with them. I am thinking its a ground but not to sure.
Sounds like the Alterntor is failing, more so if its the original one.
I would replace it with a 105 amp AC Delco and not with the crap rebuilt ones.. My opinion.

get a multi meter and check the battery to see if there is a draw on it when the car is off. If there is then you gotta find what is drawing power enough to drain the battery, If there is no draw the next thing to do is have the the system checked at autozone. they can check the altenator
