I opened my plug gap to .050 , but didn't really notice any difference. I later backed it down to .040 for nitrous use. I've never experienced a miss from gapping my plugs this way. Just experiment and see what works for you and your ignition system.

ok, got the plug gap worked out. seems like 55 works best for my setup. Now I have another Question, did any of you guys experience tach problems when you installed your msd and if so what did you do about it. TIA

SURE DID!!!

Yep, I sure did. I put an MSD Digital 6+ into my 91 Formula and had no tach at all. Acted just like it did if if was disconnected. Lots of other folks had erratic tach problems, but I heard of no one else with a dead tach. Lots of replies to my post about it kept mentioning a "tach filter", but I apparently don't have one (some do, some don't). I even called MSD 3 times and was told I needed to buy their tach adapter.

What I did instead was unplugged the grey connector on the white wire coming out of the factory harness that goes to the distributor (or to the MSD plug and play harness if you're using that), and then ran a wire from the MSD tach connector plug on the ignition box itself and spliced it into the white harness wire I previously disconnected (on the harness side, you need to connect it to the harness). I then somewhat shielded that new tach wire by enclosing it in some of the plastic wire loom stuff just so it wouldn't lay up against the MSD wiring, and Voila! It works just fine now!

If that doesn't work for you, you may have to see if you have a 1.5" or so square black box on your firewall behind the engine - that would be the tach filter. If you have one, disconnect the wires going into it and cionnect them together without including the filter. If all else fails, you may have to buy their tach adapter. Jeg's and Summit carry them I believe.

Hope this help, Have a Great Day!!!
