test for alternator charging

if i got the car running and nothing else on would the car still run if i unhooked the battery so the alternator was doing all thr work?

It should, but I wouldn't do it.
The surge from the loss of the battery could damage the alternator and a lot of electronics.

Also, you've got 3 different posts for the same problem rephrased.

The best way to test alternator output short of checking amp output is to turn on as many loads as possible and check voltage. It should be higher than 12.5 volts.
