VATS and power door locks
VATS and power door locks
I have a 1996 camaro with VATS and power door locks. I have it set so that after the last door is closed, the alarm is set.
I have a question. I have a button on the outside of the vehicle that will unlock my doors whenever the alarm is not set. But the moment the alarm is set (automatic or manually), the button will not unlock the doors.
I know this is some how tied into the VATS, but I need to know how to wire it up so that when I press the button, it will unlock the doors. Doesn't have to disable the alarm, but just unlock the doors.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Thanks,
Todd

Thanks for the quick reply.
Not a dumb question at all. I just didn't want to get into it too much, so I just said a button on the outside of the vehicle.
What it is, I'm installing a "Taplock" (www.taplock.com) on the inside of the car, and the taplock works fine as long as the alarm is not set. Once the alarm is set, the doors do not unluck.
If you lock your keys in the car, you can use taplock to unlock your doors. In my case, if the keys are locked in the car, you can use the taplock to get into your car, than once your in (and the alarm is going off), you can turn the alarm off once you get your keys.
Right now, I have disabled the factory alarm and the taplock works great. But it would be nice if the factory alarm was working in addition to the taplock.
