How do I replace a connector?
I tried searching but came up with nothing. I broke the little clip on the connector for my alternator yesterday and ordered a new one from napa today. I want to replace just the connector as the wires are fine and i'd rather not cut and splice the new wires in when i don't really have to. How do i remove the wires / pins from the one connector and put them in the new one?
You have to insert a pin (like a sewing pin) into cavities f, l, or p to remove the smaller terminals. The S terminal can be removed with possibly the pin or with a terminal removal tool...basically it's just a thin, long piece of metal. You'll see the opening for releasing the tab above the terminals). The openings for the terminal removal tool are not on the same side of the rubber seal. The terminals "pull" out of the connector when the tab is released with a pin, they do not "push" out. Use a very thin screwdriver to pull the rubber seal out of the connector.

S10Wildside is correct in what he has posted. As a side note, there are some connectors that have a plastic locking tab that goes through the connector to prevent the pins from backing out. I don't know about your alternator connector but on mine there is a small white plastic tab going through it. It just pulls out from the side with the help of a small screw driver or suitable device. Here is a picture to give you an idea of how to remove the connectors.

Anyway, you will have to pull that white clip out of the side of the alternator connector to remove the terminals. Sorry I forgot about that. Thanks Trickster!
Hey Trickster, I'm going to have to hit you up for a scanned pic of C100 in the 92 f-body. That's the bulkhead on the driver side firewall. Do you have that service manual?

I did it this morning before checking the boards. Managed to do it all with a eye glass repair screw driver. Thanks for all the help though. Now for some reason the alternator belt is squealing. It's as tight as i can get it too. I might try some belt dressing on it and see if that helps.
