I picked up this mirror at the junkyard today out of a late 80's early 90's Bravada. Its has 2 seperate lights and a digital compass. The gray background black letter kind. Ok, so I got the lights to work, and I got the compass to work...but. I cant get the lights to come on with the dome light, aka I open the door. They only work if I flick the switches. And the compass doesnt shut off, even with nothing on...key off etc.

How do I wire this thing to work? At least the compass to shut off, I could live with the lights working only manually...

My old mirror is the 4 wire kind (white, black, orange, gray) with one switch, 2 lights, and the dimming light.

The new mirror has 2 wires, a black one and a brownish with white stripe wire.

well with one for ground, and the other to an ignition power source (only on when key in ign position) that should do it
but if thats all the wires i dont think you can have the lights come on with the doors, should be a 3rd wire for that
