Re: push button starter
Well I on my camaro I have the starter connected to a toggle switch in order for it to start. And on my vw bug I have it connect to a push botton that turns on the starter in order for it to start
Re: push button starter
I have a push button wired up in my 86 Z28. I also have a detachable steering wheel that i lock in the hatch when i walk away from the car. And it gives it more of a race car feel, and look as well. Oh, and heres a wiring diagram i made. I have a paineless wiring harness in my car, but you should be able to figure out what the wires are. Hope it helps

Surley you can just add 2 separate wire from your starter terminals and to a switch, that way the puss button switch will work off the ignition and starter reley, turn the key to on position the press start button and to turn it off turn the key back, plus it won't interfere with the vats, or am I totally wrong lol 😂

Well transponders are what are in things like fast pass at the gas station so you can pump your gass and go. and in some toll booths so you dont have to slow down.
If you could coble all the parts together you should be able to build somthing like that for a couple hundred bucks.
I want to get build somthing like that and sell it in my electronics store. but i dont know how many peeps would be interested in somthing like that.
But i would proly have to sell it for about $150 to $200 bucks installed to make it worth my time...
so people might not think its that cool.

so people might not think its that cool.locksmith here… absolutely not how a transponder works… you need powered turned on then the transponder is detected and basically holds a matching number with the requesting system allowing it to function properly… a transponder is just a password if you will. But a transponder can not control power by being detected and turn your electrical system on…. What I did was as follows…
i installed a relay in the dash that is activated by a key fob, press on to turn the ignition switch to the on position (as if you did with the key) hit the off button to kill power to the entire car, I then ran my push start from the ignition switch to an interrupter switch then my button. I have an interrupter switch for my Distributor, an interrupter switch for my alternator field wire to turn off charging. I then took out the ignition switch after leaving the lock disabled for the steering wheel and fiberglassed the column cover to make it look like it was never there. The transponder route wouldn’t work out as convenient in anyway unless you plan to install a complete BCM and PCM to control everything and have the capability of whatever transponder you’re using. The vats system is a transponder pellet there specific ohm ratings detected that a relay requires to energize sufficiently. All in all…. I wish I’d have just kept the ignition, but for those of you wanting to keep your ignition and use a button what’s the point? You have to turn the key an additional 2mm to start it? Or turn the ignition screw with a bunch of switches uncover hidden buttons finally press them just to start the car meanwhile the guy next to you pulled off minutes prior cause he didn’t have all the “sweet features” you added…. Besides 3rd gen’s get stole ALOT you wanna be messing with all this in a parking lot at night when someone decides they wanna come up an car jack you? Or would you rather fumble your key switch it an gtfoh? If your worried about your car being stolen and that’s why you want a button (it’s okay, you can admit to us you think it’s impressive to hit a button an start your car we are all friends here) then put a steering club lock on it? I can guarantee your car will not be first choice once the club is seen… just my opinions and experience here.
