1989 Firebird Dash light
Hi
I have recently become the owner of a 2.8 Firebird, manufactured in 1989 and exported to the UK in 1990. I have had to change the EGR pipe due to a hole, this meant disconnecting the battery, removing the alternator and associated guarding. Now I have put it all back together, I have a orange "security" light on my dash. I have looked all through my Haynes manual and cannot find any reference to this problem.
Does anyone have an answer please?
Cheers

Is that the little black "chip" just above the area which is cut? In which case, yes it does. Stupid thing is though the engine starts and it drives as normal, just this light in the instrument panel.

Funnily enough I have just come back from taking it out for a run today and guess what? The light has gone out after starting it for the third time. Not sure what it was all about, but thanks for the help anyway.

The normal operation of the light is that it will come on for approximately 2 seconds when the key is first turned and go out if the proper code is recognized in the key.
