How do you bypass the computer
Hello,
I just recently joined your forum and i had a question. I have an 84 Z28 ho and i was wondering how hard it would be to bypass the computer. Its not tbi it has a Quadrajet but it wont idle and it doesn't seem like the timing is rite. It takes forever to start and when it does start you have to hold it to the floor to get it to run. Any help would be awsome! thanks guys

I guess it could be the carb. it sat for awhile before i got my hands on it. if the cam is to big would that cause it not to idle?
a big cam would cause a rough idle (or a lope) just unplug all the computer wires and get a after market dist. accel makes a fairly inexpensive dist. that has adjustable vacum advance and fly wieghts ... passengerside behind the dash is where all my comps were i just unpluged them all and went old school ... but then i also didnt have the money to have my mods done by a shop ... good luck ... tao

Ugh no... you can't just unplug the computer wires, you have to replace the carb too.
A large duration cam will cause more than a rough idle on a CCC setup, the low vacuum at idle would probably confuse the computer.

Sounds like the choke is stuck.
Remove the air cleaner assembly and spray the outside of the carb with WD-40.
