ecm problem

ok i have an 84 z28 with a 305. everything is basicly stock. i can't find where it is. i know its under the dash somewhere but what all do i have to take off? also what all has to be connected to pull the codes. i tried to pull them but the check engine light didn't even come on my brother disconnected alot of things so i don't know what is connected but with there help of my haynes manaul and the help of u guys i can find where everything is. thanks for all the help in advance

Remove the kick panel on the passenger side. Contort your body so that you can lay down and look up inside behind the upper wall. You will see it bolted up there behind where there would normally be a glove box. If not then its under the seat? You can use a paper clip to jump the ALDL to pull codes but if your SES light is not coming on there wont be any codes to show.
