Not easy to do.
The 2-wire system simply reverses polarity to operate, like a power window motor. The 3-wire system reverses polarity on only one wire, and alternates the opposing current flow between the other two wires, depending on the direction of travel needed.
Something like this...
Up:
1) +
2) -
3) no power
Down:
1) no power
2) +
3) -
It could probably be done using a couple of relays, but would be easier to just sell the 82-86 style motors and acquire the 87-92 style that will plug right in.

Ahh i c...
I bought my assembly on ebay and it came with the older motor. I really needed the whole assembly more than the motor but my old motor runs but it doesnt open the light. It just turns. I think the gear is stripped or something. I sure had a hell of a time getting the headlight to fit right. It's still a little crooked, but at least it's level with the hood. I had to take it out 2 times to adjust it. What a pita!
Thanks for the help. If anyone wants to swap motors shoot me a mail.
