starts in nuetral but not park, that bitch
just got a new/old 88 firebird formula, the bitch wont start in park, yet when i put it in nuetral it will start right up. help.

Try adjusting the park/neutral switch, it's on the right side of the shifter inside the console. You'll have to take off the shifter **** and console top to get at it. There are two screws that secure it to the shifter. Loosen the screws a little and try sliding the switch back a little until you can start it in park.

already tried to wiggle it around i cant get the bottem clip off to move it more, any other sugestions?

On the wiring harness going into the shifter there is a clip on the top side and bottom. I cant reach the one on the bottom cuz of the console and shifter being in the way. Or is that not the switch im looking for???

ya they in the way too. Should i just clip the two big ones to bypass the switch completely??

found that the harness had already been messed with before. We cut the two big wires and soldered them together to make the switch think it always in park. It will work for now until i go get a new harness.
