Okay i have been havin mad problems with my firebird. okay ive narroed it down to the last part on my list of things that could be wrong. im not gonna get into it all but the peice i need to replace is the ignition pick up coil. its right under the rotor in the distributor cap. its on an 89 firebird v6 2.8. theres like a metal claw or something over it that i cant get off. i want to know how to remove it. and if i have to take put the whole distributor to replace it. im hoping that i dont have to do that but if i do i will. so if anyone knows how to replace it or knows the links to any sites that give diagrams that would be great. thanks for the help.

I believe you'll have to remove the distributor and drive out the roll pin holding the gear on, and then pull the shaft out to change the pickup.
