Temp Gauge

When I bought the Car an after market gauge was installed below the Steering column. The green sensor lead for the Stock temp gauge is not connected. My temp gauge is pegged off the scale .
Is the stock gauge designed to peg to the North when it is not connected?

No, that means that it is grounded somewhere....most likely the wire is melted to the AIR tubes by the headers, mine does this now and then.

OR

You need to smack the dash a few times because the needles are notorious for sticking either up or down.

The wire has not made contact or melted. The gauge stays pegged without the key in the ignition.

I have tried to smack the dash a few times but it does not move.

Smack harder!! I usually put my fist right behind the steering wheel and smack it pretty hard...it takes a few hits!

It's amazing what a good punch against a gauge will do!! Next I will plug it into the sending and see if it works.

Thanks!!!

My gauge also went back to where it was. I found someone that was selling the stock gauge. Just waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
