Is it o.k. to shorten the mag wire on msd?

I just hooked up my MSD 6A and a 3 step multi retard box. The mag wire that came with the 6A was about 5 or 6 feet long so I spliced it and shortened it to about 1 1/2 feet. This is the wire that is all twisted up to create magnetism. My question is: Does this wire have to be a certain length or is it ok to leave it shortened?

Shortening it shouldnt be a problem. Just make sure you retwist it.

That's good to hear! I did retwist it. Thanks for the reply.
