power junction block quest/ion
power junction block quest/ion
my power junction block wiring has been a real quest... and i have a question. How many fusible links are supposed to be attached to the junction and where do they go? Also, is there supposed to be a fusible link on the wire coming from the positive battery terminal? Could some incredibly nice individual please take a pic so i can see how everything is supposed to be hooked up?

The vehicle in question is the rs in his sig (I think...). Hopefully someone here will have wiring diagrams, which are arguably more usefull then jsut a picture since all teh wires look teh same.
i saw a wiring diagram that said the fuel pump relay/ecm wire should not have an fusible link... but on my car, when you disconnect the one fusible link, the car wont pump fuel. I dont know.... im so $%#$% confused... im tempted to just buy another harness... this isn't the only screwed up electrical problem this car has.

Hello Berlinetta,
I don't know if this would classify me as an incrediably nice person or not since you didn't specify which vehicle you are having the problem. But since I know this vehicle has a junction block I took a wild stab and came up with this. Besides I don't have sh*t for a ford f-150.

There is a 'fusable link' for the fuel pump. I think it gets its power from that junction block, or at the starter solenoid. The fuse is actually an in-line spade fuse in a housing on the pass side fender in the bay. Well, at least my car has the fuse for the pump there.
This thread was origionally on the tbi board so I went with the assumption that it was for the tbi vehicle.

dimented is right... thanks for the info trickster. BTW guys, why were fusible links used instead of a fuse in one of those little holders? I dont see why one can't switch over... they're both fuses and they should both do the job but a regular fuse is a lot easier to replace. just my thought
Also, my berlinetta has a regular fuse holder for going back to the fuel pump but my RS has the fusible link... WTF. Id rather do calculus based physics probs all day than try and figure this electrical $%#$ out... thanks for the help guys :hail:

Probably because of location and conditions that they would be under on a constant basis. BTW, which car is this for since you have never said?

hey guys, i just found out something interesting... you know the ground wire that goes from the engine to the body of the car? I just found out that it's not attached on my car... its hooked to the body but when i went to see where its connected on the engine, the braided wire came up with the connector still attached... could this have been causing some of my fried wires, odd gauges problems?

Having the chassis ground is always good. Check all the rest of the grounds as well to be sure they have good contact.
