Speedo, Cruise, Service light, shift, all related??

Recently my speedo needle stopped working (1992) and it's been said that it is likely to be the speed sensor that has died.

Yesterday I've noticed at a certain speed that the transmission seems to not shift all the way (auto). Almost like it's in the MIDDLE of a high shift and a low shift.. as if the speed is INBETWEEN because it keeps shifting in and out.

TODAY I discover my CRUISE control is DEAD.. AND suddely my "Service Light" is now coming on.

This seems all so coincidental to be all different problem so can that speed sensor be causing ALL OF THESE?? None of these has appeared until that speed needle died.

If it is not the sensor, what could cause all these?

Thanks very much.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that the code is 24 (Vehicle Speed Sensor VSS) and yes the cruise control is linked to the VSS.

And the MIDDLE shifting tranny? Almost as if your speed is at the very MAX of the gear before it, and the VERY BEGINING for the next gear so the tranny is switching for 1 gear to the other back and forth until you either deccelerate or accelerate a bit more.
