Constantly running fan condition
My project 87 Camaro... has two radiator fans. The passenger side fan starts to run the moment the ignition key is turned. It stays running all the time. The drivers side fan kicks on when it's supposed to. Doesnt seem right. Could the non-charged a/c system have anything to do with this? I've also swapped fan relays and the a/c heater control panel. Ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

sounds like you have the one grounded out or it is wired to the ignition. you the original owner? if you disconnect the pressure switch on the a/c, does it still come on with ignition? i'm no expert in how all that works, just some ideas to throw out there to ya.

I had a problem with this myself two weeks ago after doing the R-134A retrofit to the A/C in my 89 Iroc after the system had been pretty much empty (2 ounces of R-12 in system) for awhile. Turn key to run and both fans came on, when thru wiring diagram and checked all the wiring. Replaced the low pressure switch and high pressure switch and still had the problem, replaced secondary fan relay and solved that problem. However the primary fan would still come on when I started the car and run when it was still cold. Checked the ECM, fuses, everything I could think of and it was all good. After a few days of not messing with it, I decided to give it another shot. At this time, the servicing of the system after the retrofit had stabliized and I had a good system pressure. Not sure if this had any effect on the coolant fan but it now operates as it should.
