I've just purchased a firebird at an auction where it was impounded and sold to me. I'm in the process of rebuilding the title. It didn't have its original key (or the tumber either), so I've replaced the column and pulled the VATS wires out of the column Now I've made up 15 resistors from an assortment of resistors and got them to ohm out close the these values, but they are definitely in the acceptable range.



Now, is there a way I can speed up the VATS reset (like pull a fuse or disconect a battery), so I can go through these resistors quicker? I won't be able to progam this chip for a while, and for now, just trying to get it to start.

To answer your question about speeding up the VATS time-out re-set. The answer is no, there is no way to speed it up.

I edited your thread and removed the resistance values that you had posted. Although those codes are readily available on the internet, it is this boards policy that they not be published on this board. If you have any questions regarding this, please PM me.

 

Well we waited for 3 minutes before each resistor, and finally the security light went out on one of them. Car started right up! Now I'm going to rig a switch to this circuit and hide it so I can enable and disable the car.


It's funny, this was the first time it's been started in two years!
