trickster this bud's for you!!! please help get the demon out of my electrical system

ok......i have a 1992 RS Camaro 25th anniversary 3.1 liter 5 speed. couple of months ago a guy put a clutch in this car after he done that about a week later it started acting up and here is everything that it is doing now

the car runs like sh*t acts like it has a miss, and what i do know is that the cooling fan runs all the time except for when the car has a little shake then everything is fine. if the car run for a few seconds it burns the exhuast hot as hell if the car runs for a few minutes at about 2000 RPM it will turn the manifolds and y pipe cherry red. the speedometer doesnt work while this demon is in there but when it shakes for a second then it smoothes out and everything works fine, the speedometer, the fan everything. and also the check engine light stays on all the time until it has that shake and then it goes out and the car runs like a brand new one.

everything that i have replaced is: waterpump, spark plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor, distributor cap, rotary button, IAC valve, TPS sensor, coolant temperature sensor, oxygen sensor

now all you gurus out there please tell me what it needs.

also put and extra ground wire on it.

It's probably a wild a&& guess on this first post, but since you say that a new clutch was put in there. Have you checked the adjustment on the clutch safety switch which is located on the clutch pedal?

Major clue is the Y pipe getting red. If he was fooling around underneath I would suspect possibly a plugged cat. Perhaps the mechanical vibration broke the honeycomb loose in the cat and you have rocks rolling around inside it causing it to momentarily plug up or restrict. I have seen it happen many times when exhaust systems are changed and some heavy handed clown beats the crap out of it. Try when it's cold gently tapping on the converter housing with your fist and see if it rattles. Other than exhaust restriction there is not many normal failures that cause the pipe to get that hot.

well i checked the adjustment there on the clutch switch, what exactly am i looking for?? I fooled around with it, unplugged and messed with it and it didnt help it any. I went out and took the cat off the car just to check it, there is nothing in it, evidently someone beat me to what i was about to do lol. someone today told me that the reason the pipes were heating up like that is because the car is running too lean. what would cause it to do this??

thanks for all the help guys ,keep it coming!
