Hatch Pulldown
I'm going to install a hatch pulldown on my convertible. I have the release switch and the pulldown, but how do you wire this from scratch so that hatch switch will release the top and allow the solinoid to bring the back hatch up.
this is what i'm talking about:

last one,
It already has a switch to just release the back, but I want the hatch pulldown to work in conjunction with the release switch.

Your convertible was converted by Autoform. As I recall they relocated the manual hatch latch from the rear of the car to the front of the large fiberglass tonneau. Unfortunately that latch has a different mount pattern than the electric hatch pull-down unit you're wanting to install. You'll have to fab up a custom mount. Good news it that latch hook is the same.
Electrically, connect the blue wire from the hatch pull-down unit to a 15 amp fused +12v power source. There is a ground wire that you'll need to run to a convenient ground location. That is all you'll need to hook up to get the hatch pull-down unit to function.
Now to hook up the hatch solenoid release. It attaches to the hatch pull-down unit with a 10mm screw. Take a look at the picture I've attached to make sure you bought the correct solenoid release. I often see the earlier style listed on eBay as being compatible with 1982-92 F-bodies, when it isn't. The black wire connected to the solenoid is hooked up to your hatch release switch (preferably through a relay). Be sure to connect a ground wire from the 10mm screw that attaches the solenoid to the hatch pull-down unit to ground. Otherwise the solenoid is isolated from ground by the plastic guides in the tracks.
If you find you need any parts to repair the used hatch pull-down unit you bought just click on my TDS link above. Good luck with the install. Let me now if you need further help.
