Do I need a resistor for this?
Okay, I have finally gotten a switch so that I can hook up my manual fan switch. It is a fog light switch from a T/A. My car is a base model, but it has the punch-out (actually unbolts) right under the headlight switch. I have the ground hooked up, the grey for illumination, and the green from the relay to turn the fan on. I am not sure which (if any) resistor I should use on the +12v red/black wire coming from the relay. It will turn on the indicator light when the fan is "on". This is the same wire that runs from relay to the fan motor, to supply it's power.

I don't understand why you think you need a resistor. Is the bulb something less than a 12 volt bulb?

not totally sure on that, and I have finally aquired this switch after months of looking. so i definetely do not want to burn it up, ya know?
The power wire from the relay is alot thicker gauge than all the rest, so I just want to be sure.

Okay, I've got an update on my setup on this wiring. In the picture at the top of the page, there is a center plug that I wasn't sure what to do with. That plug needs to be grounded also, in order for the switch to work properly. I don't know why, but through trial and error, I figured that out.
Still haven't had any luck with wiring the indicator light. I think the bulb might be blown out. I see that the "OFF" switch does not illuminate like the "ON" switch. Guess I should have just bought a new one. Gotta love used electrical parts...
