Voltage guage trippin out

when the motor is warm and the car is at a stop the volt guage dips and at the same time my rpm's drop. that lets me know its not the guage, but something a little more serious. it doesnt do it until it is warm, and only at a stop. any ideas?

What exactly is the engine speed(RPMs) when the voltage is low?
When you give it gas, at what RPM does the voltage come up to normal?
If the RPMs are to low due to an idle speed problem, the Alt voltage will drop. Depending on the total current load, min RPMs is about 500-600 RPMs.

about 700 normal, then the voltage and rpm's drop at the same time. the rpm's fall to between 400 and 500. the voltage comes up to normal immediately after giving it gas. it dips for a second then comes back to normal. it happens every 5 seconds or so.

You got a fuel injection/idle speed problem, not a voltage problem.
Try a SEARCH for "TPI idle speed" or get some help from a TPI expert.
