Ya,........ It can be done. But don't expect it to be a weekend job. It will take some time to get the conversion right. You can't just swap the cluster in place and call it a night - it will not fit.

If you really want to make the swap a reality than you will need a Berlinetta parts car so you have all the right parts at your disposal.

What sort of work are we talking about getting it to work. I picked up an '88 berlinetta parts car, I wanted to swap the digital dash into myt '85 tpi.

Check your numbers again ------>

There's no such thing as an 88 Camaro Berlinetta.

You Basically need to swap the entire interior out of the Berlinetta and into the Z. (steering column, Center console, Dash housing, Be sure you have a copy of the Berlinetta AND the Z C100 firewall bulkhead connector so you know what wires you need to splice. ( just the window wiper wires I believe )

Here's the Berlinetta connector :
http://berlinetta.info/temp/Berlinet...0Connector.jpg

There are other things you will need to consider as well - you might need to swap the ENGINE harness into the Z as well because you will need to have the 2 wire connector running into the tranny for the digital readout; as well as the electric sending unit in the tranny. You will also need to install the Berlinettas Heater / AC wiring system and relays onto the Z28 heater box ( behind the dash housing ) so the Berlinetta heater controls will work. There are also 2 wiring plugs that run off the ECM harness ( near the ECM) that plug into the dash harness,......... you will need to be sure that most of these wires are the same from car to car. ( this is made easier if both cars use the same tranny and type and intake system; Carb or FI ! )

You will need to retain the Z28 headlight wiring harness so the park lights have the right sockets and retain the Z28 ECM harness so the TPI will work right. If your Berlinetta was a carb car than you will also need to run wires for the electric fuel pump.... a MPFI Berlinetta harness will already have these wires.

Since you have a complete parts car to work with you have everything you need to make it work. I've done a lot of conversions and custom work over the years so It would be an 'easy' job for me - I can't say how easy it will be for you other than to say it depends on your experience !!
