It's white and behind the trunk trim. It doesn't seem to fit into any of the relays because the slide nub is on the wrong side. What's the general opinion?

 

That might be the white wire that goes to the cargo compartment light switch or the light itself. There is a black ground wire that goes to the switch with a white wire running from it to the light.

 

Well, my compartment light is wired up and works. Any other thoughts?

I looked and this wire originates out of a black relay box, then goes to the black "sleeve" in the picture, and comes out as two wires.

It is hard to tell from that picture but there seems to be some electrical tape on that section of wire. Is that a pig tail that has been added in at some point in time. Also do you have the electric hatch release in there.

 

I don't know when that was put in, but yes, I do have an electric hatch release.

I can't find anyplace that there is an open spot that fits the plug on the end of the loose wire. I do know that my rear defroster doesn't work, but I don't think this wire is associated there.
