Need help on distributors

Hey guys; I need some help trying to decide which distributor is best for my car. I decided to remove my TPI intake this winter to get at a bad lifter, and I started thinking about replacing the distributor with a high performance one, such as Accel, MSD, or Mallory. I can't seem to find one that will work with my car; all the ones I've seen have vaccum canisters on the side and mine doesn't. I have a 1985 IROC-Z 305 TPI engine in my 1988 Camaro SC. Anyone out there have any advice as to which distributor would drop right in and hook right up?

Also, how hard is it to install one of those MSD boxes; I think it's the 6AL or something like that. I figured I'd put one of those in too while I'm back there. Maybe pick up a little more power and whatnot.

By the way, the motor is stock, but the only thing I think that would affect the ignition is a Hypertech Thermomaster chip, if that helps out any. Thanks!

Kevin

If your factory ignition is in good shape, chances are you won't see any performace improvement form a high dollar ignition system on a standard non-modified engine.

The distributor you want is call a "small cap HEI" computer controlled distributor. I know MSD makes them, the others probably do as well.
