Keyless Entry Woes

Trying to hook up the keyless entry with a Rattler alarmsystem. It has a negative door trigger and a positive door trigger. What wires do i connect these to? Color wise, i know where to look for them.

There web addy or look for info on 5-wire door locking. You'll need two relays (or a door lock mod, just two relays in one box) and trigger that from the (-) trigger for lock and one for unlock out of the brain.

diagram

okay you will need to get
- 2, "30 amp relays' (available at most part stores i got mine at radioshack)

- a spool of wire

- some female spade connectors

- some patience

you can try to make relays but its cheaper to buy them they are only like $7 - $10 in canada so US expect lower. and wire them like this

I’m wrong. You don’t need relays (or 5-wire) because our cars have them. Know though that using the relays to isolate things never herts, and if you don’t use them and some how you hit the in car buttons and the remote buttons at the same time bad things could happen. Most GM do need to be 5-wire because the switch terminals rests at ground and are wired right to the lock solenoids, but not our cars (at lest not in 86, all should be the same). Look here. And note that it is a (+) trigger not a (-) trigger.

Your brain should have door lock outputs something like this (+) unlock/ (-) lock and (-) unlock/ and (+) lock. If you look at the wire diagram you’ll see in the car the unlock wire is black and lock is light blue. So take the (+) unlock from the brain to the black wire and the (+) lock from the brain to the lt. blue wire. Of course confirm all wires with a VOM first. And like I said before, it is best to use relays even though you need to, I would use them.
