power drain please help!!

I bought 1987 camaro beatuful shape for age and $$ paid the person that had it before me wired the cooling fan to the ignition so I went and bought a fan switch so it could be wired up properly. Well I let my boss do it he dose know more than me when it comes to cars anyway got done all is fine and running good about 45 min later I lost all power I tried jumping the bat. but would only make it 500 feet than all power lost again so I yanked the altenator and got it tested, tested good fully recharged the bat. it was good and keeping a charge plugged them back in started the car up got 2 miles down the road when all power drained. Did my boss short somthing out while re wireing or coincedince?? What do I need to check next please help!!!!!

why on earth would he hook the fan up to the ignition? plus where is the relay he used?

are you saying that you are just driving along, and your car dies, and you no longer have power???

in that case, I'd say the connections on your alt are bad, or your battery is REALLY bad...

use a voltmeter on your battery after you get it running, and check... also feel the wiring going to your switch for the fan, if its getting hot, something is wrong.
