'85 Power hatch fit on '87?

Would the '85 power hatch motor fit and work with an '87 GTA power hatch? Mine's toast and I can get this one for cheap. Thanks

If it is a motorized hatch pull-down unit it should work. I see pull-down units on eBay often that are incorrect for the years listed. I also see solenoid hatch releases misrepresented as either a motorized hatch pull-down unit or that it will fit years that it won't. Post a picture of the unit here or e-mail it to me and I'll know for sure.

Also while I'm at it, I sell all the parts to rebuild your hatch pull-down unit (in case the one you get from eBay turns out to be a DOA). Just click on my link above.

I see....now that you mention the solenoid unit, I'm pretty sure thats what it is. The motor itself doesn't seem that big and the mechanism is way smaller than the one I have. Would it still bolt up right? Would I be able to use the push button opener?

Does it look like this?

If so, then yes you can install it on your hatch pull-down unit.
