Wiring 4th Gen Seats

I got a set of '00 Formula Leather Seats. They should be easy to wire up as the only power they have is power drivers' tracks. (no lumbar on either, and pass. seat is manual.)

The driver's seat has a clip coming out of it connected to an orange, and a black wire. I figure black is ground, and I will connect that to one of the bolts that holds the seat down.

My question concerns the orange wire. I know this has to be connected to a 12V power source (probably the fuse box), but what is the best method for doing this? Should I just jam it into the utilities space? Or what?

I would like to do this the right way, so that it doesnt fail on me in the future.

Any input appreciated.

if you have your seats out, pull up your carpet and look under it. there might be a connector there. GM uses the same harness on a variety of cars. chances are its there. if not you can hook it to any orange wire comming off the fuse box for constant power, or any pink(black stripe) wire if you only want power to the seat when the ignition is on.
good luck.

Thanks Stage, however, I got your post a little late (this morning). I put the seats in Saturday. Probably while you were making your post.

I felt around the carpet while the seats were out, and didnt feel any harness. What I did was simply splice a wire in behind the connector coming from the seat and run it to the fuse box. I tapped into a "battery" open spot, and therefore the seats have constant power.

Everything works properly, and the seats look awesome.

pretty sure you can. lumbar might pull more juice and blow a low amp fuse, but i doubt it.
