Fog lights wired to running lights - searched, nothing

I know that this has been covered here before, but my search still turned up nothing. Sorry if i'm pissing anyone off.

How do I tap my foglights into my running lights so the fogs come on with the running lights (with fog switch on). '85 Iroc.

I know it's a noob question, but I need to know - thanks for the help.

I assume you'd hook them up as you normally would, but hook the power wire into that of the running lights. So with the switch off, you can have just running lights, flip it on- and bingo, you have power. I could be wrong, but I believe that's how it's done. Hope this helped!

Or, you can do it the way the factory intended:

Lacking a factory relay socket and wiring, you can use any SPDT relay rated at 12A or more.

Curious......

Why do you want them on at the same time, all of the time?

I like to run on the highway at night with just my fog lights. It leaves me plenty of visual light and doesn't glare the driver in front of me because the are lower to the ground.

On overcast or foggy mornings, I just run the fog lights without the headlamps.

I still want the choice for either, not both all of the time. What's your reason? Don't you have a foglight switch like the T/A's?

Jim.

Yes, the T/A has a for light switch, just below the headlight switch, as indicated in the schematic. The factory wiring prevents the fog lights from operating unless the marker lights are on. The headlights do not have to be on, but the running/marker light do.

If you study the relay, you'll notice it is the NC contacts that power the fog lights. This prevents the fog lights from being on while the high beam headlamps are on. It may have been an issue with overall circuit current that forced this configuration, but I believe many other vehicles with factory fog/driving lights operate the same.

I'm glad you asked the question because I tried searching a while ago and couldn't find a diagram.
On our dodge truck the foglights knock of as soon as the high beam comes on but on the beemers I've owned it didn't.

cheers for the diagram

Question:

I've got a RS that didn't come with Fog Lights and they have been added. Right now it has a ghetto rigged toggle switch with 16 gauge wire ran from the foglights through the door jamb and just hanging under the fuse box. (bought it this way, lol)

Anyhow, I want to hook it into the parking light circuit so they are on when the parking lights are on. Can I just T off of the wire that sends power to the parking lights and run that to a relay?
