86 camaro blues..
Still having the same problem after taking my g/f's camaro to 2 shops (Combined, they've had it for more than 5 months)
Well, here goes.
The Camaro sometimes doesn't start up, and other times it starts just fine. When the car runs, hitting around 45mph-55mph the Camaro bogs down then releases and drives normally. When slowing down to a stop, it sometimes wants to stall out and if it does not, it runs rough and my g/f has to put it in neutral and rev the engine to keep it running. The Carb has been rebuilt, the fuel lines have been checked and the starter was checked.
2 mechanics, 7 months later the poor car is sitting and rotting. I need to get this baby moving.. I have a bad feeling the seals are all rotted by now. :/
Both shops state it must be an electrical problem.. any ideas?

Just a couple of questions here, what year is your g/f's car and what engine is in it? Also what you are describing sounds like it could be a problem with the transmission Torque Converter Clutch solenoid inside the transmission oil pan. Provided her car is an automatic, when was the last time the transmission filter and oil was changed?

Heya Trickster.
Well, she has an 86 Camaro, 305 roc w/ carb and factory tranny.
And well, it hasn't been changed. :/
Just a question about what you asked. The transmission Torque Converter Clutch solenoid could cause it to bog and also die? It also has a problem starting sometimes.

I have been informed by my g/f the fuel pump was replaced twice. carb rebuilt, distributer replaced 2 times, timing checked, all filters replaced cept the one in the tank. choke has been replaced.
Trickster:
It turns over, yet it doesn't want to actually start up. Tapping the gas does nothing. One thing I haven't tried was using a spray starter, though. Sorry if I'm pretty vague with what has been done w/ the cammy.. it's been awhile since we've had all this work done to it
