Charging Problem???
ok this is on an 84 z28. I went ahead and put a brand new alternator and battery in it. After installing both, i checked the alternator at advance and it keeps reading 14volts but only 1 - 5 amps. This was the same thing the other alternator was doing. The guage in the car reads anywhere from 12-14 so that is not a prob. However, the choke light is on. And from what everyone is telling me, the choke light means there is something wrong with the charging system.
I checked the wires, on the two prong plug, the one wire goes to the wiring harness and the other goes to the positive on the alternator, then there is a wire from the battery to positive on the alternator. This checks out with the haynes wiring diagram so i dont think it is a problem.
Anyone have any ideas??

Check the "CHOKE HEATER" (C_H) fuse on the fuse block. If that is good, check the wiring to the Choke Heater relay in the convenience center. If the wiring is good, replace the choke heater relay.
