CARB to TBI Wiring Harness mod
Is it possible to modify the full original wiring harness so that I dont have to re-wire the entire front end of the car? I have the computer, and the wiring harness, also manifold and stock in-tank fuel pump. and Theres alot of harness there. I thought that I would have to only wire in the tbi and the sensors, not the entire car. I know that companys sell indivdual wiring harnesses for tbi, and its just for the Tbi and sensors. So I know its possible. Someone, Please, with advice, help me. I just want to get tbi going, without ripping apart my entire car.

For the most part much of the harness wil go to the sensors and such on the engine or in the engine compartment. There can also be additional connectors in the harness for emissions equipment. These pieces are controlled by the ECM (EGR, AIR, . . .).
External feeds to the harness wil be items such as the VSS (vehicle speed), park/nuetral switch (if auto), B+, ignition, and power to the injectors.
Lay the harness out in an open area and see what each connector is for. It will make it easier to understand. If you have an OEM harness they will have 'extra' pieces in it. Don't know why they do it that way, but they do. These extras can be removed. Basically you want the harness to be a stand alone EFI unit before you install it.

So basically the computer only controls the tbi and sensors? Nothing else will be effected? Like cruise control, starter and stuff like that? B/c the harness also branches off to the starter, and also to the front end turn signal lights. So if I cut those out of harness I wont have any problems? If I just leave sensors, and tbi stuff Ill be fine? B/c Im not sure what that computer actually controls and monitors.
