Fan switch wire ??

Engine: a loud one
Transmission: bolted to the engine
Fan switch wire ??
I am talking about the fan switch sensor at the bottom of the block on the passangers side that kicks the fan on so the car will not overheat. Does anyone know if there is a wire that goes to it directly from the ECM (if so, what's the pinout location) or is it tied into the fan relay. The ECM is a 7165. I never really figured this out. For now i just unhooked the A/C and have been operating it manually.
