rear hatch motor

rear hatch motor will not go up but pulls hatch down fine

It sounds like a problem with the striker-sensing switch. This small switch is mounted just in front of the latch. Reach down into the hole that the pull-down motor retracts into and fiddle with this switch using a long screwdriver. If this gets it to function, then the contacts in the switch are worn and it needs to be replaced. I have them available on my web site under the Hatch Pull-Down Category. Let me know if yours is a 1986-87 or 1988-91 when you order. I have both in stock new. There was a difference in the connector on the blue wire. 1986-87 have a large white connector. 1988-91 have a small black connector.
