Power window woes.
So my power windows never really worked right in my car, very intermittently, generally not at all... (This is both power windows..)
Anyway, I had my center console off tonight, and thought i'd check it out. My drivers side worked for about 30 seconds, about long enough for me to get excited and roll down my window... Then it died. It's currently 32 degrees F....
I have a Chilton, and the Helm manual for my car.
I went through the checklist in the Helm:
-Checked for power in pink wire with key in run - ok
-Checked that ground wire (black), was grounded - ok
-Checked switches, for continuity when holding in "up" and down", good for both. (my passenger side is a new looking switch, drivers being old.) both gave continuity (with my digital voltmeter)
- Checked for resistance in the power window motor wire... passenger side got 196ohms, drivers was dead.
*Now remember, both power windows don't work*
What should I be doing now ? Remove drivers door panel (as this is the power window I want to work the most), and check for a loose connection? Can I jump power to the motor to see if it'll move? Pop off a part and check for worn brushes? (anyone have a picture of what i'd be "popping off"?
Thanks very much -J

I just had mine replaced by a local body shop. They ripped me on the cost of the motor, but I went down there with the door panel off already and they only charged $20 for labor and a half hour later I was on the road with a working motor again.
Also might try cleaning & lubing the channels. And if you just need to get the window up, with the door panel off try pushing up on the glass while holding the window switch up. It might be enough to get the window to slowly creep back up so you don't freeze to death.
Good luck
