what wrong with this? please help!

my driver side window is haveing some messed up issues.
first i noticed the odd time the driver side pwr window would freez and not go up or down. but if i kept pushing the button and messing with it for a bit it would end up working again. i figured the button was the problem so i went to the scrap yard and got a used one. when i installed it i noticed smoke comming out from the button so i took it out and put it back in and the window worked perfect again for acouple days, then it froze on me again. so this time i went and bought a new button, i installed it and the window was working again for about 4 hours before it decided to freez AGAIN. i would like to blame the window motor but if that was the problem then how come everytime i install a new button it works for awhile??? im thinking its a short or something, anyway does anyone know whats going with my window?? its driveing me nuts, i cant even drive it with the window messed up like this. please help

it could be that the window motor is just starting to go bad. alot of times when they first start going out, just slamming the door can get them to work again for a little while.

the next time it won't move, try this, open the door & slam it closed while holding the switch, or open the door & with the heal of your hand hit straight down on the top of the window & hold the switch in either the up or down position, you do not need to hit it very hard, & don't try either of these while your driving.
