I have a rather simple question. I want to check and make sure that my Cowl inductor is still funtional. how can i make the car think that its supposed to open and check that? i dont think that drving with my foot on the floor would be a good way to check.

Just wire up a pushbutton switch go engage the current, then youll be able to tell if it works or not. And you hear the sound of it open when not running. It's a "flap" sound. When running, you definatly hear the difference on the engines growl...
