dude, i bought one from ebay looked exactly the same, actually is the same just a diff dealer, i emailed him about 5 times asking ??ss because i didn't want to buy it if it didn't work....he said it would and would be perfect for a daily driver, so i bought it, dropped it in i have a 305 tbi with 350 block, i know i still need to get the 350 computer, injectors and what not but before the pick up coil went out on my car it drove and ran just fine, i dropped this distributor in which is also billet and has a different type of pick design which i think works great but not so much for a computer controlled car, my probles have been code 33, map sensor-leaking restricted vaccum lines, poor electrical connection, etc. it fires up great, runs ok at idle, but when i rev it up i get a little black smoke like all the fuel isn't burning, and the code is still there after clearing the code numerous times, tried the timing at tdc,2,4,6, nothing helped even tried the idle adjustment srew but no dice....so i almost convinced it this distributor with the hotter spark, i did do some homework before i bought it and emailed some of the people who also bought it, a few told me it worked but didn't mention as to what it worked on, carbed or not, i did receive an email from a dude that bought it for his camaro just like mine and it didn't work because of the hotter spark throwing off the emissions and he also talked to a mechanic about it who said the same thing so i will be buying a oem dist. from autozone to see if that cures the problem, hope this saves you the hassle sorry for the length

its ok, but its hard to beleive that a "hotter spark" would make you blow out black smoke, black smoke is when your car is running too rich, sounds like your map sensor is bad or you have a vacuum hose dissconected/cracked. i think thats your only problem. id suggest taking some starting fluid and with the car running spray all the vacuum lines, try to do one line at a time or do it in area's. if the idle changes on the car you know you have a vacuum leak there. just a suggestion. but i need a bronze gear on my distributor and this one would be the cheapest plus ill need a good spark with the supercharger i just bought.

Let me know how it works out! I've got one of the Australian billet distributors sitting in the garage, haven't had a chance to install it yet in my 383 SuperRam setup.....
