I have a digital dash with the whole dash and harness for a gta ws6.
I need to know what I have to do to switch the analog guages in my Iroc, to digital. Will I need a different computer? Will I need to buy special sensors. I have a cable speedo. What will I need to do to make the digital speedo work. I have never heard of anyone doing this have you? Any info would be a great help.

the dash is out of an 86 I belive. The Iroc will have an 87 wiring harnes TPI.

 

The only computer you would need would be the trip computer if there is one. The only other thing that I can think of is you will have to yank the cable system and switch to the electric system. All you would need is the vss sensor that mounts to the trans and wire it up to the vss buffer and the speedo to the buffer also. Hope this helps.

 

Just figured out that the harnes atached to the dig. dash is a carb harnes. I have a tpi. How can I make this work? Can I just throw the dash in with the tpi harnes and wire the dig. dash into the tpi harness by using a diagram for each typ of harness. Will the power suplie wires match up for correct voltage? Will the sensor voltages coming from the computer work with the dig. dash? The connections for the computeris totaly different. I have not had the chance to compare the guage connectors on each harnes. I've got a feeling they are going to be different. The Buffer you spoke of is already attached to the carb gta harness. Any further help would be much apreachiated Thanks!

 

yes you will have to wire the digital dash harness to the TPI harness. I did something similar with my GTA, When I bought it it had a engine fire. The only harness I could find was one from a camaro. So I got a wiring diagram from the camaro and one for my gta and switched the wires to run the GTA. Hope this helps.

 

Yes this helps. So you think I can just cut the conector for the dig dash and cut the conector for the analog tpi and splice in the right wires for each one and I might be good to go? oh and change the cable speedo to electronic. Thanks for all your help!

 

I know that there were a few people that wanted to do this before on here. If you haven't done already you might want to do a quick search on that and check with them if there is anything specific that you might also need to do that I might not know about.
