Where does this wire go? HALP!!!!!!
I'm swapping T-5's in an 89 rs TBI. While under the car preparing to remove the blown T-5, I found a wiring plug just hanging there not plugged into anything. there are no plugs within reach of the wire that I can find, the wires are yellow and purple, and have a weatherpak plug on the end. they share the same loom as my reverse light wires,(blue and lt green), and hangs right beside the transmission on the driver's side. Everything works in the car, and it runs fine, but this wire has a purpose, and I want it plugged in where it's supposed to go.
Thanks in advance.

I'll second that
Its the VSS wires, which run the speedo, tell the TCC when to kick in (on an auto) and give the ECM your engines speed. I just fixed them on mine.
I bet your car doesn't have the original type of tranny.

I thunk the VSS was on the back of the instrument panel, run by the speedo cable?
Is it possible that I don't have the stock tranny? Maybe mine is an older T-5 that didn't take a VSS?
The car does throw a VSS Code, but I always thought that was a bad speedo cable. It had the original two peice speedo cable, I've got the new one peice cable, but the car hasn't moved vet, so I'm not sure if it would still throw the code or not. The new tranny is from an 89 V-6 car, so it should have the VSS.
P.S. I Already know about the different spline count for the V-6 and V-8 trannies, Summit sells a clutch disc specifically for this swap.
P.P.S. The new tranny doesn't arrive til tomorrow, is why I didn't look at the new tranny before asking.
Thanks for the info.

On the V6 and the TPI the VSS was on the instrument panel behind the tachometer. The TBI models had the VSS buffer box with the VSS in the tranny.
