stalling problem

heah guys i have a question, i have put in a new distributor to replace the old one, pickup coil, magnet, went out...so i have it timed at tdc, its an 89 camaro tbi 305 with 350 block, i don't have a chip for it yet or the 350 tbi unit and knock sensor but the car did run ok before the distributor went out...my problem right now is the car will odle ok and rev in park, reverse ok but when i put it in drive i can only give it a little of gas or else it will stall, could this be a transmission problem? or a problem with advancing or something else? The dist i put in has a high performance module, but i also switched it out for a stock module and it does the same thing....i used to get a code for low vaccum map sensor, i've replaced all the vaccum hoses around the engine, bought a new map sensor, new spark plugs, newer coil, wires, cap-rotor..i don't know what to do now i'm not getting any check engine light until i give it too much gas in drive and it stalls, any help would be appreaciated

ok, i now have it about 10deg advanced and its running the just about the best it can for now i am in need of a 350 tbi unit with computer and knock sensor, reason being i tried a stock ig module with this dist and it ran like crap no take off at all almost died everytime had to feather it to keep it running, with the high performance module it was considerably better but still there was big hesitation, and strangly it runs better without the computer on... i know everyone says leave it hooked up but when it is i can hardly rev the motor and it doesn't like to idle, without the computer on it idles fine at about 1 grand and runs good besides the hesitation(305 tbi+computer-knock sensor on a 350 block With 305 heads) so after to talking with a friend of mine he feels the same way, get the 350 stuff and drive it with the computer off but take short trips to make sure there is no developing misses at higher speeds.. if anybody else has any more suggestions please post, and if it matters it did hold fine at higher rpms with about half throttle no misses sounded strong just the cpu was off
