Interior trunk light

My light in the back of my trans am is turned on via a small black switch, which I hate. What do I do to make it turn it automatically when the hatch is open? A wiring guide from a more recent model would be great. For some reason the Chilton manual doesn't mention the hatch motor at all as far as I see.

you don't really want to do that. If your latch ever doesn't catch all the way, or your pull-down unit hangs up, you won't know it until the bulb drains your battery. I thought about changing mine back to a switch like my first thirdgen, but then I just took the bulb out (quicker).

Yes I do. I check to make sure my hatch is pulled down all the way and I wired up LEDs instead of a bulb, so the whopping 60mA of current won't kill my battery for a few days.
