I took the stock radio out and the problem started, i put the radio back in and the problem persists.

The problem:
As soon as i turn on the lights there is a constant annoying loud buzzing noise. The radio antenna goes up. The radio turns off. All guages on dash go back to zero (speed, temp, pressure). There is no dash or gear shift lights. The high beam and indicator lights come on, on the dash.

To stop the buzzing noise i can hold down the window demister switch, the buzzing seems to be coming from behind this.

Only thing i can think of is that i blew a fuse when removing the radio, but i dont know where all the fuses are or how to access them. If anyone has any help its greatly appreciated, this problem is so annoying to drive at night with.

I have no wiring diagrams or anything to help me.

 

i have the same promlem in my 89...nothing lights up and only the tape player works. this happened after i took out the dash.

Check all your grounds in that area, you are getting feedback somewhere there.

 

but it was working perfectly before i removed the radio. Where do i check the grounds, i have a RHD conversion so things might be a bit different.

 

Im just gonna buy the new hu i was going to put in. And then take it to a shop to get it fixed, then hopefully i wont have to take the dash apart again.
