altenator voltage reading gauge wrong

altenator voltage reading gauge wrong

what could cause this??

its at the first white line when i checked the altenator with a volt meter its showing 14volts

If your handheld meter shows 14V and the dash guage shows something different, either the dash guage is out of calibration or suffers from poor connections. Suspect are the instrument panel connectors, bulkhead connector, and grounds.

Assuming that your guage is fine, you can adjust it by pulling the needle off the guage and placing it in the correct spot according to the multimeter. The 14V sounds about right, Mine runs at 13.7V
