I need help, electrically stumped
First off the car is a 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am...
So i went to the beach yesterday and when i got back to the car lots of things didnt work, such as The interior lights, radio, powerlocks, remote trunk popper. The windows roll up and the car runs, plus the headlights work. All fuses are perfect with no burnouts?
Now earlier that day i made some modification's to the rear hatch. I had bought a used hatch pull down motor but it quickly gave out within a few days. I then drilled my spare assembly without the motor so it would be a permenant fixture with no moving neccsarry. Well i left the following disconnected. The light for the trunk space area, the little metal contacts that i assume tells the car when the trunk is closed, the motor connectors and thats it. I had the relay still in and also the the remote popping thing hooked up and it worked. Could any of my connections grounded out causing this problem. I drove the car for a few weeks before with the connections out but the harnesses looked like they wouldnt let it ground out, not to mention its all carpet and not many places for it to ground out. Also last but not least, now when i push the button to pop the trunk the ebrake light goes on?
What did i do?

If you dont get it figured out there is one last thing to try. Its not the quickest way, but you can allways put things back EXACTLY like they were and see if that fixes it. That is if you can remember the way it goes. Then you can make your changes 1 wire or 1 step at a time to see what went wrong.

As always I'm not a mechanic but did you actually check for voltage at the fuses? I understand they read good across but that doesn't mean they're getting voltage. But also please correct me if I'm wrong but you should have 5 known fusable links.
2 on the starter
2 right around/beneathe the factory air intake system
1 Should be on the sidewall passenger side, and thats a normal fuse.
Not totally sure how they work but if any of them are blown it may be why your fuses check good and your sh*t doesn't work.
To check em, simply cut back some insulation on either side of the inline fuse and use an ohm meter.
Lemme know if it works, I'm curious too see If I'm getting better at trouble shooting.........

Excellent
In my experience, a problem with the cigarette lighter plug is the most common cause of a blown ctsy fuse. I've already had coins in my ashtray that bounced in my lighter socket and shorted it out.
The horn, gauge lights, interior lights, trunk pop, and sometimes power locks are usually all on that one circuit on most gm vehicles I've seen. It's more or less the power for everything that can run without the key being on.
