speedometer swap

I want to switch my 85 mph speedo to a 145. I was wondering if you could possibly just switch the plate. Is there any possible way to do it w/o the whole back part being switched also? thanks

If you're speaking of the face-plate only, don't bother. The speed won't register correctly since the guts of the speedo are calibrated for 85. Moreover, if you remove the face-plate, you'll be obliged to remove the needle--which IMO is a disaster waiting to happen (you may break the needle and recalibration could be a problem).
